June Resolutions
I think the months are going by even quicker this year just to make these monthly resolutions even more difficult for me.
May resolution recap: Get more sleep. Specifically to go to sleep by 10pm every night. How'd I do? Not well. Not well at all. Sleep by 11:00pm I can manage, 10 just means that I have to cut that time at the end of the day when the kids are in bed and things are quiet and I can relax, catch up on emails/facebook/upload pictures... basically unwind. But the resolution was a success in that I gave more weight to sleep. For a while I've tried the old "I'll sleep when I'm dead" approach, but I definitely need a decent amount of sleep to just get through the day, especially to get through my runs. Even though I didn't quite make my bedtime I did make more of an effort to sleep, and I think that's helped. It's also helped that Aaron is pretty much sleeping through the night now; though that means he usually wakes up for the day at 5am. Just to spell that out, on a typical day I get 6 hours of sleep. Normally I'd like 9, when I was pregnant I needed 12 in order to not throw up for the next 3 days. Now I get 6. But hey, at least now it's 6 uninterrupted hours (for the most part), it's been nearly a year since I got more than 3-4 hours of uninterrupted sleep. So, I guess that's progress. I'll keep working on it.
Now we're into June and I know exactly what I plan to do this month, but I also doubt it will get done. To take off some of the pressure I'm going to make it a June-July resolution. I'd like to get our basement cleaned out really well. It's been a while since I've gone through it like I used to, and my once nice organized storage area has turned into one those dumping grounds for all the things I just don't want to deal with yet. So it's quite an undertaking. I have a few concerns about being able to get it done in June: 1- Matt needs to go through the stuff with me, so that means we probably have to just work on it over the weekend, which cuts down the available time to get this done. 2- Aaron- we'll pretty much only be able to do it while he's sleeping (add that to the list of 50+ things I can only do while Aaron's sleeping at this point). 3- More and more of my time is going to be spent running as I start to increase the distances of my runs leading up to the 20k in August. But I think if I have 2 months to work on this I can get it done. I don't know though, I'm not having the best track record with these resolutions lately. So we'll see.
