Continual State of Becoming

.... or What Happens When 1 Experienced Piano Mover and 1 Piano Mover in Training Attempt to Carry Your Upright Down a Flight of Stairs

Jess: The title of this blog comes from the book "Music and Imagination" by Aaron Copland… he writes about how music is a very transient thing... You listen to it in a moment of time and you can't take in the whole work at once (like you can with a painting for instance). Instead you hear one bit after another bit and so on... And while it goes on the overall effect develops, the latest sounds you hear are influenced and interpreted by what you previously heard and what you previously heard takes on new meaning... Therefore, he says that music is in a continual state of becoming. I am in a continual state of becoming. Since I've started this blog I've gone from new wife, new piano teacher, to church musician, to grad student and librarian, to new mother, the mother of a 3 children, and back to grad school to become an elementary school teacher. All this which shapes who I am becoming as a whole, while never really reaching the point of being done. I like to write about it all from time to time.
